, i just love the finished look, i drew round each of the flowers on the backing paper with crystal stickles and covered the letters in the name with it too, such a shame that the glitter doesn't show up properly.Wednesday, 13 July 2011

Trudy's Party Dress

These cards were made using the freebie paper piecing, digi image "Trudy's Party Dress" from Mo Manning, (http://www.mosdigitalpencil.com/) i have only made the 2 cards so far, but she is so beautiful, i know that i will be using her over and over again, i am hoping to add the photos to Mo's FB page if i can figure out how, as there is a competition running (til Wed 6th July 2011) with 5 lucky winners being chosen at random to win store credit, this will be my first ever entry to one of Mo's challenges, so fingers crossed.

Here is the 8" by 8" easel card the my hubby and i sent to our friends, it was such a lovely wedding, the bride looked stunning even if i do say so myself, it was my job to get her ready, hair, make-up and into the dress, i also helped get the bridesmaid ready, when all that was done, i had just 10 mins to get me ready lol, i managed it though, and the wedding was beautiful.

These are the cards my children sent to my good friend on her wedding day (Sat 25Th June) i tried to make each card different, the frame card was made with the Crafters Companion Humphrey's Corner cd rom, its such a collection, i even made it so it could be hung by adding a large eyelet and a folding tab that closed the card.

Here are the cards i have been making in the last couple of days, the sexy black and red cat card i sent to my friend, and the others were samples i made upon request for a 1950's style male anniversary card, the jukebox was the one that got chosen in the end. The 1950's cards were all made using MCS carousel of classics, its the first time i have used these specific images from the collection, but i really enjoyed the challenge, my friend was disappointed by the selection in the shops, in her words "they are all the same, once you've had 1 you've had them all".
I took photos of the 3 cards next to a ruler to show her the size of them all, and who knows she may well be back for more :-).
I almost forgot, the friend who received the cat card was delighted, she and i were part of a crafting group that was recently cancelled (much to our disappointment) it was her first real introduction to card making and she loved it, but having tried it herself now she was fully aware how much effort went into making it, and that made her even more grateful upon receiving it.

New home

I made the new home set for my brother in law and his lovely girlfriend, they moved in to their new apartment a couple of weeks ago, i made them a card and a gift set which was a gift box filled with new home announcement cards that had their new address inside, the whole set was very well received. The stamps i used were freebies from a couple of different magazines, i know that one of them was from Polkadoodles, but i have forgotten who the other one was designed by, but i though they worked very well together, they were coloured in with pro-markers, the patterend baking papers were also magazine freebies, i have been very thrifty with this gift set, The roses were white but i colour matched them with the pro-markers, to tie it all together.

Hello everyone, it has been a very hard couple of months, my granddad was taken ill, and sadly passed away on the 20th April 2011, we laid him to rest on the 28th, but as a family we are dealing with the loss, its made a bit easier knowing that he is reunited with my nan, and that he's not is in pain any more, and that he went peacefully in his sleep at home, R.I.P Thomas McCarthy.
On a lighter note, i cant believe that its been months since i blogged last, where is this year going?, anyway i may not have blogged much but i have been crafting, as you can see from all the new entries on here, please feel free to comment on anything.

One of the mum's at school was getting married so made her this from templates i made myself, and then in the draw i put a pair of sterling silver pink and white pearl earrings and a pink bag charm that i had made as well, just in case you were wondering pink is her fave colour, the box easel card went down really well with the other mums at the school, i was so proud of myself.

I had to hunt this stamp down, but im soooo glad i did i just love it! its such an unusual image, but it works, i once again opted for an easel style as the papers i had seemed to suit it, as the card ended up quite deep i was glad that i had purchased the Crafters Compamion envelobox board, which came in a set during a P.OT.D on Ideal world in April 2011, it made light work of making something that would exactly fit the card, i have stamped an coloured in the image several times, and will post the cards i make on here, when they are made.
